Biography:
Ryan Sandoval was born in January 1985 in Northern California. He is son to Linda Dorris and Richard Sandoval, brother to Christopher, Andrew and Nicholas Sandoval. He married Jazmin Moreno in December 2008.

In 1991 Ryan's parents divorced. The adjustment in his family would alter him for the rest of life. Linda, his mother, worked full-time to make sure that the essentials were always provided. Richard, his father, worked tirelessly to stabilize his professional life after being a victim of the layoffs in the defense industry in the early '90's. The values Ryan received during this period were empathy, support and appreciation for all life's experiences. Eventually, life did stabilize for both his father and mother. Ryan's parents always labored to give their children a solid foundation of love and discipline under the circumstances of their decision to part.

Ryan attended the parochial Notre Dame High School in Riverside, Calif. In his junior year, he transferred to a home study program with Summit View also located in Riverside. The transfer was a result of his inability to focus in a traditional school setting. When Ryan graduated in 2003 it represented his achievement of completing high school and his dedication to gain a diploma.

After completing high school, Ryan entered Riverside Community College where he decided on his academic goals. Ryan originally intended to obtain a degree in Music but during his time at Community College he decided on pursuing a Communications and Political Science degree; both subjects that most interested him.

After completing the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) at Riverside Community College, Ryan transferred to California State University, Fullerton where he completed a Bachelors degree in Communications and minor in Political Science.

In 2005 while volunteering his time, Ryan met Jazmin Moreno at a Moreno Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce event in Moreno Valley, Calif. Ryan found Jazmin to bring great influence and balance to his life. He would always say that, "What I could not decide objectively, she could subjectively." The two married in late 2008 - three years after meeting each other.

Through the 1990s, Ryan's father became politically and socially active in the Latino community. His father would always include his sons in his efforts like volunteering for the 1992 Clinton campaign, himself running for 65th Assembly District, founding and presiding over two Hispanic Chambers, and his current position as President and Executive Producer of Hispanic Lifestyle, a Southern California television program that promotes positive images of Latinos in the community.

As a result of all of his father's work, Ryan too became interested in serving the public. However, Ryan's involvement with the public came from within: a concern about how he could provide for his family, the choices being made by elected officials and the declining opportunity in the area he lived in. For the purpose of providing a better future for his family, Ryan became involved in politics.

In 2004, a district representative of Congressman Joe Baca's office invited Ryan to attend the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project (SVREP) training in Los Angeles. Ryan became the Riverside-San Bernardino County coordinator for Latino targeted voter registration and get out the vote efforts. As a result of the work led by Ryan and his team of volunteers, the Riverside-San Bernardino group was the third largest registerer in the state of California for SVREP during the 2004 Presidential election.

In September 2006, Ryan attended a local Democratic club in Norco. Two months after his first visit to the club he became Vice President. Unfortunately, after organizing the largest fundraiser the club ever produced, Ryan had to resign the position to focus more heavily on completing his education.

While Vice President for the Western Riverside County Democrats, Ryan met Corona-Norco School Board Member Bill Hedrick. As a result of his position within the club and his other community efforts with his father's company, Bill Hedrick in 2007 asked Ryan to help organize his campaign for the 44th Congressional District.

When the campaign for the 44th Congressional District began late in 2007, the campaign possessed nothing more than 40% name recognition in district for Bill Hedrick and a common belief that the small campaign would be successful. Ryan became the Deputy Campaign Manager and his brother Christopher Sandoval as Campaign Manager. The campaign initially recruited a super volunteer named Sheila Riley who was largely responsible for the day-to-day operations of the campaign.

One of the very first challenges for Bill Hedrick was gaining name recognition with local Democratic activists. Ryan, along with his brother, had the technical experience to compile a series of videos where Mr. Hedrick could explain his vision for the 44th Congressional District.

After the Presidential Primary in February of 2008, the campaign was steadily growing in size – both in volunteers and in funding. The following month in late March, Bill Hedrick asked Ryan to assume the duties as Campaign Manager because Christopher Sandoval had resigned; He had decided to run for City Council in Perris, CA, where he almost succeeded - losing by only 12 votes.

Ryan, after assuming the duties as Campaign Manager, took a hiatus from his studies at Cal State Fullerton to devote full-time effort to the campaign. He believed that working for the campaign as the manager was the best educational experience he could receive at the time. Ryan would use his position as manager in the campaign in the same manner as a student would use a class to gain a degree. He would learn the best practices in managerial and political strategies and apply those ideas to the campaign.

The volunteers in Bill Hedrick's campaign were the main reason for its progress and viability. The campaign was operating with qualified people who previously presided over credible organizations, many of whom who had previously managed and volunteered for other political campaigns. Ryan managed this competent team and made sure they were always focused on the positive outcomes of their labor.

By November 2008 the campaign conducted more than 100 meet and greets, raised over $300,000, staffed with 12 qualified individuals and supported by 300 volunteers. At 23 years old, Ryan managed a campaign that came within 2% of overtaking a 16 yr.. Incumbent Congressman. The 44th CD was the closest Congressional challenged election in the state of California in 2008. Moreover, Bill Hedrick won 51% in his own county (and the incumbents home county), which encompasses 80% of the total Congressional District.

For two weeks after the election, Ryan and several volunteers staffed the Registrar of Voters office to oversee 60,000 plus uncounted ballots because the race was too close to call. Ultimately, the campaign was unsuccessful in overturning the Congressional seat but had initiated the publicity that would gain the Campaign nationwide recognition.

Most recently, Ryan Sandoval served as First Vice-Chair for the Riverside County Democratic Party and Vice-Chair for the 64th Assembly District. He also returned to Cal State Fullerton to complete the degree program that he took a hiatus from to run the Hedrick campaign. Upon returning to Fullerton, Ryan began to excel with his studies and was recognized two semesters in a row with being on the Communications Department's Dean's honors list and invited to join the Political Science Honor Society: Pi Sigma Alpha.

Today, Ryan has completed his Bachelors degree program at Cal State Fullerton and is now searching for full-time employment and more importantly is enjoying his lovely wife Jazmin.
